BetterTalk offers a different approach to many of the couples counselling services out there: We focus on solutions. We have no agenda -- we're entirely guided but what the couple wants. But a couple is made up of two individuals! So our job is to help you discover what you do want, in the course of a calm, respectful and detailed conversation where everyone is heard equally.

We're also interested in getting to know you both therapeutically, so where a couple feel it's appropriate, we like to meet you individually for some 1:1 therapy sessions -- where we'll work through anything that may be preventing you as individuals in your relationship from interacting the way you could -- or perhaps once did. Our focus is always on how you would prefer your relationship to be -- and how you can get there. 

We have an optimistic approach, and most people will find counselling a healing process; but it can also be painful to uncover certain things about oneself, so we move forward in a slow, reassuring way.  Our evidence-based approach is shaped by Gottman couples counselling research and practice, Emotionally Focused Therapy (influenced by Attachment Theory), Solution Focused Therapy, and Interpersonal Neurobiology. 

We offer discount packages just like our 1:1 therapy  packages, with couples counselling from just £49.99/hour. Couples counselling in the UK typically costs £60-100 an hour (average 2026 price is £75*), and it's not unusual for couples to need 6 - 10 sessions, so you'll see that  BetterTalk's discount packages represent unbeatable value.

And while many counselling services have waiting times of up to a fortnight, we'll try to see you within a few days -- and even the same day, if that's what you need. 

PRICES FROM £49.99/HOUR

Your initial, trial couples therapy session will be 85 minutes, charged at £84.99. You can then join any discount package with prices from just £49.99/hour. 

Please note:

We have kept the price deliberately low for your first, 85-minute session -- it costs only £15 more than a 60-minute session. 

Where sessions take place after 6.30 pm or at weekends, a 33% higher fee applies. This reflects the provision of appointments outside our normal working hours.

Your life; your personal needs and goals; and the goals of the couple

At BetterTalk, you can combine  your shared couple sessions with in-depth individual therapy to explore your own personal wants and needs. This unique 5-week, 8-hour package lets you go deeper in your search to understand your relationship and your personal role in it. This split-format approach, known as Combined Couples Therapy (or Integrated Individual & Couples Therapy), is a specialist offer for which BetterTalk is particularly known.

After your initial 85-min. joint session, each partner has three 60-minute sessions of  1:1 counselling. Then, we meet together again for two more combined sessions of 60 minutes each. (Total course of sessions, including your initial 85-minute session, will be 9.5 hours).

We believe it is important that both people in the relationship are open to exploring their own needs in depth. So this unique, affordable online couples counselling approach allows us to meet the partners separately as well as jointly. People are sometimes able to feel heard better in one-to-one sessions -- and are better able to understand themselves, too. This can make the subsequent joint sessions significantly deeper and more effective. 

A package of 8 hours of counselling targeted at your needs, for just £399.99 (£49.99/hour).

In detail: BetterTalk couples counselling starts with a shared session of 85 minutes, costing £84.99. If you then join our Couples Counselling With Individual Therapy package, you pay just £399.99 more, for a further eight hours of counselling and therapy. It is remarkable value for counselling that takes you really seriously as individuals, and as a couple! 

After the package, you can add more sessions as you wish. Further individual 1:1 therapy sessions cost £49.99 each when purchased in blocks of four (£199.96) or £54.99 each for a block of two (£109.98);  single one-off sessions cost £56.99. Extra couples sessions/packages are costed at the rates shown in the bullet points below. 

We are completely flexible with regard to adjusting sessions according to clients' wishes and needs. Occasionally, one or other partner decides to stay in individual therapy for longer if they are finding the process fruitful, and we are happy to arrange that. (Within a package, individual and couples sessions can be swapped around upon request.)
